Are you curious as to what a Fish Extender is? Well, first you need to know what a fish is as it relates to Disney cruising. Each stateroom on a Disney ship has a wall decoration outside the stateroom door that doubles as a clip. Disney uses these clips to leave messages to the occupants of the cabin as needed. On the Magic and Wonder these clips are fish but on the Fantasy and Dream they are actually seahorses. So, why does your fish or seahorse for that matter need to be extended? It’s not really a need but more of a want. If you would like to participate in a fun gift exchange with your fellow cruisers, then you will want to extend your fish. A fish extender can be anything that you can hang from your fish. You will want something with at least one pocket or maybe a pocket for each person in your cabin like a mail organizer. Some are as simple as grocery bags while creative cruisers take pride in creating masterpieces for display. They can be homemade or purchased. Anything goes when it comes to fish extenders. Believe it or not, if you google fish extender you will see lots of ideas. The idea is that interested cruisers sign up to participate in the fish extender exchange for their specific ship and sail date. These cruise groups are usually set up on Facebook and you can request to join your sail date’s group. A volunteer in the group will usually take charge and begin organizing the fish extender groups. This is where some rules may be made because each group is different. Each stateroom that participates will go around the ship and leave a little whozit or whatzit, thingamabob or maybe a gizmo or gadget in the pouches of the fellow cruisers that are playing along. Everyone loves coming back to their stateroom and seeing what's waiting for them. So, that’s the idea in a nutshell. Get your whole family in on the fun of making or shopping for gifts, organizing them and then delivering them and have a great time.
