We might finally be getting a peek behind the curtain of what Disney has planned for the Old Port Royale area of the Caribbean Beach Resort.

Thanks to some permits filed by Disney Imagineering with the South Florida Management District, we can see areas blocked out for upgraded dining and shopping areas.

As rumored, the plans call for a new Table Service Restaurant to be built in front of the existing Old Port Royale building, and for the check-in area to be moved from the existing Custom House to the rear of the building.

Meanwhile, Disney continues construction on the newest DVC property — the Riviera resort, which is being built where half of Martinique and Barbados once stood. The Riviera is set to open in 2019, and it’s believed it may share some amenities with Caribbean Beach.

Renovation began on Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort earlier this year and is expected to last until late 2018. Disney has yet to officially announce whether or not the new table service restaurant will keep the name “Shutters” or if it will be something entirely new.
